Pathetic

Wow! I have been a horrible, terrible, pathetic blogger lately, however, I have a pretty good excuse (i think.) This has been my hardest semester yet! I decided to go full time again and that was a bad choice. My classes have been a lot harder than they have been in the past. All I spend my time doing is working, going to the gym and doing homework, and I am not lying. After I started the semester I quit my job... and then got a new job! I have been working full time and going to school full time. For those of you who have had to be around me I am deeply sorry because I have been one onery girl lately, And i'm pretty sure Garrett feels like he no longer has a wife. Even though I am so stressed out I am really loving my new job. I get to work with one of my best friends, Kelli. Everyone there is really nice and hard workers! Well I don't have time to catch you up on anything else other than that because I have finals to study for but after next week I am hoping to be a better blogger ;) I am only taking two classes next semester so i'm hoping that will help my stress levels... and maybe I will actually feel like i'm married again!

Goodbye Summer...

Although we had a fun summer I have to admit that I am not too sad to see it leave us! We were very busy this summer and this was my first semester starting school full time. I will admit it was AMAZING only working two days a week though! I feel like the summer flew by. It definately wasn't one of our best summers ever. I am glad that summer is over and here are a few reasons why...

- I hate the extreme heat
- It is the start of a new semester, which means I am closer to gradating
- It means fall is coming and fall is my favorite time of the year
- It means the holidays are getting closer
- It is mine and Garretts birthdays soon
- I finally get to stop watering the lawn and our flowers! lol

I am definately looking forward to the future! I love our lives and wouldn't change them for anything but sometimes I feel like we are in a weird spot in our lives. All we do is work... and go to school! I just can't wait until I graduate and we can move onto the next chapter of our lives!

July 31, 2009

I know I have been a horrible blogger lately but I have to blog about Garrett and I's two year anniversary! WOW!!! It seems like yesterday that we were being sealed to each other. This year for our anniversary we went camping with Garretts family... AGAIN! Not that it wasn't fun but I told Garrett that we are not making this a tradition any longer if he wants to make it to three! lol. jk! We actually celebrated our anniversary at the beginning of the month in Park City because we knew we would be camping that weekend. Our good friends, The Hardmans, also came camping with us. It was a lot of fun spending time with them and the boys had a blast bear hunting!

I am so so so lucky to have such an amazing husband. He is the hardest worker I have ever known. I love spending every day with my best friend. I also love that we can have so much fun together and he can make me laugh like crazy! It is such a great feeling to know that I will be married to him for eternity! I LOVE YOU GARRETT BRASEN ELFORS AND CAN'T WAIT TO CELEBRATE MANY MORE YEARS OF HAPPINESS WITH YOU!

Park City!

Garrett and I had this whole week off together (which never happens) so we decided to go on a little getaway on tuesday! It was kind of for our anniversary, which is July 31, because we will be camping on our anniversary this year! We bid on priceline.com and got a room at the Yarrow Hotel and resort for $40.00! It was not the nicest place we have ever stayed in but for 40 dollars we were perfectly fine with it! We went and saw Transformers 3 and went to dinner at the Loco Lizard Cantina! It was probably the best mexican food i have ever had! We went back to our hotel and went hot tubbing. It was so nice because no one was in the hot tub or the pool! The next day we had breakfast at Einstein Brothers Bagels and went shopping at the outlet mall! After shopping we came home. It was fun to spend some time away with my amazing hubby!

Trip to Alaska!

Okay, so we really didn't go to Alaska but a few months ago i bought a groupon for $89 dollars to the Alaskan Inn up Ogden Canyon. Garretts parents had been there before and love it! We left on Friday afternoon and checked into our cabin! Our cabin was called the Kenai cabin and had a moose theme. It was amazing! it has a nice big jetted tub and lots of movies to choose from. It also has a walkway behind the cabins with the river right next to it. After we checked in we went to the TImbermine Steakhouse. I found a coupon online for $10 dollars of a $40 purchase. I got prime rib and Garrett got a HUGE steak! It was such a fun, romantic atmosphere. After we ate we wnt back to our cabin and RELAXED! The next day we drove through the canyon and up to Morgan, just for something to do. It was so nice to get away for a night and spend some time with Gar! We will definately be going there again!

Last Priority!

I usually post at least once a week but i realized i havn't posted for a while. I have been SUPER busy with school! This full time school thing is kickin my butt! I can definately say i would rather be going to school full time than working full time but i probably won't be blogging as much as usual anymore :( i have had three tests, four quizzes and read 12 chapters so far this week! Next week won't be much better either because i have five quizzes and four papers due! I am LOVING my classes though. I am taking child abuse/neglect, family finance, resource management and human sexuality. Two of my classes are 8 week courses so i will be done with those at the end of June and then with only two classes hopefully i will have a little break until fall semester. So anyways, i am sorry to say that blogging will be my last priority for a while! I hope you all have a wonderful summer!

Camping/ New Projects

We went camping this last weekend for the first time in our new trailor! It was AMAZING! Usually six of us are staying in a little 19 foot trailor (Garretts mom and dads) and i am crammed in with Garretts sister and Garrett is sleeping on the floor. Last year we stayed in a tent because we were so sick of being crammed. We went to the Swasey Mountains up past Delta. We went four wheeling and for walks, but mostly we just relaxed. There were some really cool mines that we explored. We took our dog and he LOVED it. On Sunday we went to this trilobyte quarry. It said it was open and we couldn't see anyone so we went in and found some trilobytes on rocks. They were pretty cool and we took a few with us. When we were leaving we saw a sign that said the trilobyte quarry was closed on sunday but it costs 28 dollars a person for an hour! WHOOPS! Tyson looked up on the internet how much they were worth and we took at least 100 dollars worth or trilobytes home! We were feeling a little bit bad. We left before the rain came on Sunday so it worked out perfect. It was nice to have some time to relax before i started school back full time. (today) We loved having our trailor. The thing i loved the most was being able to shower every night! There is nothing better than a nice shower when you are camping. Unfortunately we did not take any pics of our camping trip.

Speaking of Sunday HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO OUR SWEET MAMAS! They do so much for us and they are the best. I will never be able to tell them thank you enough for all they do for us! We love them so much and i hope one day i can be awesome moms like them!

I have made some new crafts in the last couple weeks and i thought i would post pics.

I made these for our moms for mothers day except i made them on tiles instead of wood.

Flip This House

Garrett and I LOVE the show Flip This House. We love it because we know exactly what they do and what they go through with remodeling the houses. We remodeled our house last year and it was so much more work than we anticipated. It really paid off though. The house wasn't absolutely terrible or anything but there were a lot of hidden things that weren't done right. We got all new windows, sheetrocked and mudded the whole house, built a walk in closet, framed, painted, ran new electical, put new flooring and light fixtures in, put new trim allover and there is probably a lot more that i am missing. ONE DAY our dream is to buy old houses and remodel them. We would probably rent them out rather than sell them but either way it is an awesome investment! I am so lucky to have such a talented husband who can do almost anything himself. We have NEVER had to call anyone to fix anything, including vehicles when something goes wrong. ONE DAY WE WILL DO THIS!

Homemade Strawberry Jam!

My sweet mother in law helped me make homemade strawberry jam for the first time today! It was lots of fun and a lot easier than i thought. (especially with her helping me) Strawberries were on sale at Walmart on Saturday for a dollar a pound so we figured they probably wouldn't get any cheaper than that! I bought four pounds of strawberries and was able to make 12 containers, which will last us over a year! (plus i will probably give some away) I am thankful for Garretts mom and that she was so willing to help me!

Date Day!

Garrett and i had a date night tonight (yes it was earlier in the day because we are cheap and like to pay the matinee price at the movies.) I was trying so hard to convince him to see Water for Elephants but he really wanted to see Fast Five! Those are his absolute favorite movies. He is usually pretty good about letting me pick the movies so i decided it was probably his turn to pick. (plus i kinda want to read the book Water for Elephants first before i go see the movie.) It was SOOO good! I think all the movies are pretty good but this one was definately the best. It was action packed and had me at the edge of my seat the whole time, plus you can't go wrong with Vin Diesel and The Rock in the same movie! YIKES! We were going to go to dinner after but our poor baby Cooper is on this steroid medicine that makes him have to urinate a lot so we decided we better get home! (He has been going like every 15 minutes and he will go for like 5 minutes straight.) We hadn't been to the movies for a while so i'm glad we got to get out and have some fun!

PS- What is up with all this snow? I am NOT okay with it!

ER!

So our sweet baby Cooper was due for his one year old vaccine. Garrett always gives the vaccines to his hound dogs so we figured we would try to do it ourselves rather than take him to the vet. Garrett gave it to him last night at about 8pm. Garrett and I both didn't have to work the next day so we decided we would stay up late and watch a movie together. About half way through the movie Cooper threw up. We just thought he had eaten too much grass and stuff outside that day and maybe the vaccine was making him a little nausous. A few minutes later Garrett tried to give him a cracker and he didn't want it. When Cooper doesn't want food you know somethings up because he loves food, especially human food! We finished the movie and he was acting fine. Right before we were ready to go to bed i noticed he had a small bump by his eye and one by his lip. i tried to feel it and he wouldn't even let me touch him. Soon after that he started scratching his face nonstop, and i mean nonstop. He was trying to scratch it on the carpet, the wall, the curtains, anything he could. I gave him some childrens benadryl because i had a feeling he was having an allergic reaction and a vet had told me to do that a long time ago when he has a bump on his head. We decided to lay down and try to go to bed but he wouldn't stop scratching and he started panting and breathing heavy. A few minutes later i turned on the light and his face had dime size lumps all over it and he could barely open his eyes because they were all swollen. Well, if you know me i FREAKED out! Cooper is like our child so i started bawling. I told Garrett we had to call a vet so i called the ones in Tooele while he got online and researched the 24 hour vets. Of course none of them in Tooele answered their phones so we called a 24 hour animal hospital in salt lake and they said we had to bring him in because they have had dogs die from that before! You can imagine how i am after hearing that. So we jump in the car in pajamas and everything and go. It was raining so hard and it was the LONGEST drive of my life! The hospital was all the way in Cottonwood and he was short of breath the whole time there. By the time we got there his face didn't have the lumps anymore but it was so swollen, like a balloon! He was not happy about being at the vet and them sticking a thermometer up his bum! The vet said it is definately an allergic reaction to the vaccine and he mostly sees this in little dogs. he said it was good that i gave him the benadryl because that could have stopped some of the swelling and if he had swelling by his neck he could have died. They gave him some steroid shots and medicine to help and we went home. When we got home it was about 3:30am. We were all exhausted so we laid down and Cooper still couldn't stop scratching and panting. Garrett and i both couldn't sleep because he was so miserable. I laid by him and just rubbed his back for a while. I felt so bad for him because he was so tired and he would lay down and try to sleep but he couldn't because he was so short of breath. I called the vet around 5:00am and told them the swelling had gone down but he was still scratching and panting. They told me it can take a while for the medicine to kick in so we just needed to wait it out. I would have done anything to take the pain away from him. i was crying because he was so miserable. Garrett finally went to sleep because he had to work night shift tonight. i let Cooper outside and he went and rolled in the grass and was soaking wet. I think it must have helped him with the itchiness. He came back in and he FINALLY fell asleep in the laundry room. I went and laid down but i kept getting up and checking on him. At 9:00am i had to give him some medicine so i gave it to him and then we all were sound asleep until about 2:00pm! UHHHGGGGGG!!! I am so glad that my baby is okay! Maybe this was heavenly fathers way of preparing us for kids! lol. I am so glad i didn't have to work today. Cooper is doing better and all he wanted to do when he woke up was play and eat! I am so glad i have my sweet dog! He is the best dog in the world and we love him so much! I have gotten like 4 hours of sleep in the last 40 hours so GOODNIGHT!!!

SPRING???

I am hoping it is safe to say that we won't be getting anymore snow this year! Hopefully i don't jinx us! I am so thankful that it was nice last weekend because i worked my butt off in our yard! Our yard needed some MAJOR work when we bought the house and i was so excited to fix it! I am not so excited about it anymore. On saturday my mom and i worked for almost 6 hours in my front flowerbeds! Last summer we ripped out these hideous bushes that were in the flowerbeds so we had to weed and pull out all of the remaining roots! Can i just say i dont think i hate anything more in the world than weeding! I was almost in tears and seriously considering hiring someone to do it for me! lol. If it wasn't for my awesome mom who helped so much i would have given up! After we were done weeding we got to the fun part! We planted some perennials and lined the flowerbeds with this cute white fencing! I also got these adorable solar lights to put in the flowerbeds! The flowerbeds still need some work, but i need to wait until it gets a little warmer so i can plant some annuals. Even Garrett complimented the garden and said it looks great, which really isn't like him because he is very oblivious to that kind of stuff! lol. I also got sunburnt!!! It was hurting but it was a good hurt! I love the feeling that the sun was actually out! We also got our gravel for our driveway this week! Sounds super boring, i know! But i never knew i could be so dang excited about gravel! It makes the yard look so much better!

Speaking of spring, i made some cute spring/easter crafts a while ago that i havn't posted yet so here they are...

Today is my first week of working PART TIME!!! I will say i'm not even sure what to do! lol. I don't start school full time until mid-may so i am going to have some extra time on my hands. I'm sure i will find many things to keep me busy though. I have my finals coming up in a couple weeks so wish me luck! I am watching Good Things Utah right now while blogging! I love that show, they have the cutest ideas. I would always wished i could watch it when i caught glimpses of it at work but never had time! I'm sure it won't last long though! As much as i hate the cold weather i am thankful for the rain and the moisture! Hopefully it doesn't last too long though :)

Our new baby!

Garrett and i have been wanting a camp trailor for a while, but have had too much going on with our house so we finally splurged and got one! We had been checking every day on KSL for some good deals and last friday we went to look at a couple. After coming home with no luck i decided to check online to see if any new ones were posted. There was one that a guy was selling from Eagle Mountain that caught my attention. We looked at the pictures and called the guy to see when we could come look at it. He said they had already had a couple calls on it and if we could come that night we would be the first one to look at it. So we hopped in the car and went. It was an older couple who owned it and the trailor had been left to them from her dad who had died about a year after he bought it. They said the trailor had been used about 5 times total! And i believe it! It is brand new inside. It sleeps 6-7 people.  It also blue booked for about four grand more than we paid for it. It was an awesome deal and the people really just wanted to get rid of it! We are planning a camping trip in may and we are so excited to test out our new baby!

WARMTH!

So this last weekend i got to fly to phoenix with the other assistants i work with for an ortho training. As rushed as it was i had a really good time. We flew out on Thursday after work. Our flight was delayed about an hour and a half so we didn't even get to our hotel until like 11:00 pm. When we got to our hotel we wanted to go exploring. We were at this beautiful resort. We ordered some pizza and sat out by the pool to relax. We didn't end up going to bed until about 2:00 am and our training started at 7:30! We were so tired! We went to the breakfast buffet in the morning and headed to our class. Our class was pretty fun, however, it was mostly just a review for us. I can't say i learned to many new things. Our training was 9 hours!!! We has some breaks in between though. For lunch our doctor took us to this really good mexican restaurant and then when we got back we went and sat by the pool. It was 90 degrees!!! I actually called Garrett and told him to buy a ticket and come down so we could stay a little longer since southwest doesn't charge you to change your flight. He looked and the tickets were almost $400 dollars so we bagged that idea. After our training we went to this awesome steakhouse. Then we got on our plane and came home. I got home around 11:00 pm and was exhausted! It was fun to spend time with all the girls i work with. Its nice to have some play time with them sometimes instead of all business! On Saturday Garrett and i decided we wanted to go on a date after conference so we went into salt lake to go to olive garden and see a movie. After we ate i got a major headache, actually a migraine. We ended up not going to the movie because i was in so much pain!

I am really excited for it to get warm, if it ever does. My tulips and daffodils are growing in my yard and they look beautiful! I just bought the cutest solar lights to put in front of my house! I am hoping it is warm next weekend so i can start working on my flowerbeds. We also just bought a lawn mower and weed eater and i am surprisingly excited to mow the lawn and have barbeques and all that fun stuff! GO AWAY SNOW!

CHANGE!

So after my negative post i found out some awesome news! I will now only be working mondays and thursdays! HALLELUJAH! I am going to go to school full time starting this summer and just work two days a week. i am really looking forward to it. i think it will help a lot with my stress level and maybe i will actually feel like i am moving somewhere with school. i figured i have about a year left for my bachelors degree and then hopefully i can move on to my masters, depending on where we are at. i am so thankful i have such a supportive husband that motivates me to get my schooling done! THANKS BABE!

DOWNER

lately i have been feeling down in the dumps :( maybe its because of the STUPID weather. i know for a fact some warm consistant sun would help. I have been so extemely busy lately that i feel like i am going to have a panick attack! I never really understood when i was younger why adults worried so much and were always so stressed. let me tell you i completely understand now. I have been working full time, which is getting old fast. i like my job and the people i work with but to be honest, i am sick of looking at teeth every day of my life! I am going to school part time, and i feel like i am getting nowhere. i am paying more money to go part time than full time! DUMB! I talked to my boss over a month ago about cutting back my hours so i can go to school full time and he still hasn't let me know. i am getting so frustrated because I NEED TO KNOW! DUH! My statistics class is hard and i am stuggling with it. i can't wait until it is over. Along with working and going to school my boss has been scheduling trainings almost every weekend this month. a few weeks ago we had one in salt lake, last week we had one is las vegas and next week we have one in phoenix. vegas was fun and it was nice to spend some time with the girls i work with but all i really want to do is BE WITH MY LOVER! I feel like i never get to see him or do anything fun with just him. We are always working or busy with something. I am not trying to get any sympathy from anyone because i know many of you are very busy as well. i just need to vent for a minute. i guess we just need a break... or a change???

Weekend Getaway!

Last weekend Garretts sweet grandma and grandpa took us, his mom and dad and his aunt and uncle to wendover for a little getaway! We had so much fun! We went to the buffet, went to Easton Corbin, and (mostly) watched everyone do some gambling. The concert was awesome! We did a little bit of gambling and actually won about $50 dollars but we don't do it a whole lot. Garretts grandma got us the mini suites at the peppermill and they had these AMAZING jacuzzi's in them! It was so nice and relaxing. I forgot to take my camera so i don't have any pictures. The best part of all was spending time with our amazing family! We are so blessed to have such amazing people in our lives. LOVE YOU GUYS!

Knowledge

I am a primary teacher to the 10 and 11 year old girls in our ward. Today our lesson was about the temple. This lesson was really humbling for me. As i was teaching the lesson about how sacred the temples are i remember sitting in primary when i was about their age and i had no idea what it was all about. I had heard my teachers and family say how great it was but i never thought it would be as great as it really is. Words cannot even begin to decribe the feeling i had when i was sealed to my husband for eternity. I am so grateful that i have the knowledge that my family is forever... eternal... neverending! I am also glad that we are so blessed to have so many temples surrounding us. I love my sweet girls in my class and i am so excited to see them grow and go to the temple someday!

My high school sweetheart!

I know that Valentines day is long over but i just wanted to say that I LOVE MY HUSBAND SO MUCH!!! He is such a hardworker and surprises me everyday with his patience and love towards his family and I. I knew from the moment i met him we would be in love for eternity! I also know that he is going to be an amazing dad someday.
This is the oldest pic i have of us on my computer, but this was almost a year after we started dating! LOL. We are kids!

Be Mine, Valentine!

This year for valentines day we went into Salt Lake and went shopping at the mall and cabelas. we both got some fun stuff that we had been wanting. We got our tax return back on friday so it worked out perfectly! I got some clothes and makeup from sephora and Garrett got some hunting gear from cabelas. We also had to get our baby something. We got him a new HUGE bed from Cabelas because he is always trying to sleep on our bed, even though we won't let him! After the mall we went to Market Street Grill and had yummy prime rib! Then we went and saw Just Go With It. It was pretty funny, a little bit naughty though. When we got home we got Coops new bed out and HE HATES IT!!! He is so scared of it because it makes noise when you touch it because its so poofy. The last few nights he has slept anywhere but that bed! Garrett put him on it the other day and was holding him on it and poor Coop was shaking!!! He is scared of anything that makes noise... the vacuum, the blow dryer, our electric toothbrushes, you name it! Oh yeah, and he is deathly afraid of WATER!!! He is a lab! Anytime you say bath he books it out of the room. It is fun to tease him! On Sunday we went to church and after took a 3 hour nap together! We never have time for naps so it felt so good. This morning before work i left Garrett a ton of chocolate and a card... Garrett is obsessed with chocolate. When i came home for lunch there were a dozen roses on the table with a card that said "You are the best wifey ever and i love you tons!" Cute! I am not one of those people who thinks valentines day is dumb. Being in love is the best feeling in the world and i love that there is a day where we can stop our busy lives and celebrate. This was Garrett and I's 6th valentines day together! Our first valentines day, we were too young to go on our own date so we ordered chinese food and watched A Walk To Remember at my mom's house! Funny! I love my hubby and every year just gets better and better!

My definition of a good weekend!

This weekend was SO nice! I was so busy last week with work and school so all i wanted was a relaxing weekend. Garrett worked this weekend so i got a lot of alone time, which surprisingly i kind of like sometimes. I like being alone and i am also a major homebody. I love being at home, probably because during the week i am NEVER home. On Thursday night i went out to dinner with my friend Emily and some ladies ini her ward were having a craft night. We made some cute things! Here are some pics.
way cute magnets!

On saturday i decided i need more valentines decorations so i went to salt lake to the wood connection and got some stuff to make more. i also went to the mall and got some cute hot pink vans and a university of utah hoody and hat from victorias secret. Friday night i did all my crafts!

I really am wanting  one of these! I keep trying to convince Garrett i need one but it hasn't worked yet! Does anyone have one? If so do you like it? Is it worth it? I also want to take some sewing classes. Does anyone know of any in Tooele County?

On Saturday i went and got a massage from my friend Steffani. It was AMAZING!!! It seriously felt so good. I am hooked now and will be going every month! After the massage i did some errands and cleaned the house. Today i went to church, i love my primary class. They are so smart. I also took a nap and now i'm blogging and making chicken penne. I had a great weekend. of course i would have loved to spend some time with my wonderful hubby, but i had a really nice relaxing weekend!

Cruise to Mexico!

Our cruise to mexico is, sadly, over :( It went by so fast but we had a blast! We left for Cali last sunday and that was a LONG drive! When we got to cali we stayed the night in a hotel and got on the cruise ship on Monday morning. The cruise ship was AMAZING! Both of us have never been on a cruise ship before so it was really fun for both of us. Tuesday we stopped at Catalina Island. They had little boats we had to take to the island from the ship because there wasn't a port. We got to tour Catalina on a golf cart... it was beautiful, not to mention the 80 degree weather! We also got to go parasailing, which was a blast! I went with Garretts little sister Vanessa and Garrett went with his little brother Tyson. I was a little scared to do it but it actually wasn't scary at all. The next day we stopped in Ensenada, Mexico. We had fun shopping and bargaining with the salesman! We got some sunglasses and i got a purse and some jewelry. We were a little bummed in Ensenada though because it was overcast so it wasn't very warm and sunny like we were hoping. Thursday was our day at sea. We laid out by the pool, played mini golf, played ping pong, shopped and danced. surprisingly i did okay with not getting motion sick either. I always get motion sickness, even in the car but i kept some dramamine in my system and i did great! Friday we got off the ship and made the long drive home. We are sad to be home but we had a blast! I am so glad we got the opportunity to go on a cruise with Garretts family. We needed a vacation badly. It was great to be able to have fun and relax with my wonderful hubby for the week! I can't wait until we can go on another one!

A Few of My Favorite Things...
