Date Day!

Garrett and i had a date night tonight (yes it was earlier in the day because we are cheap and like to pay the matinee price at the movies.) I was trying so hard to convince him to see Water for Elephants but he really wanted to see Fast Five! Those are his absolute favorite movies. He is usually pretty good about letting me pick the movies so i decided it was probably his turn to pick. (plus i kinda want to read the book Water for Elephants first before i go see the movie.) It was SOOO good! I think all the movies are pretty good but this one was definately the best. It was action packed and had me at the edge of my seat the whole time, plus you can't go wrong with Vin Diesel and The Rock in the same movie! YIKES! We were going to go to dinner after but our poor baby Cooper is on this steroid medicine that makes him have to urinate a lot so we decided we better get home! (He has been going like every 15 minutes and he will go for like 5 minutes straight.) We hadn't been to the movies for a while so i'm glad we got to get out and have some fun!

PS- What is up with all this snow? I am NOT okay with it!

ER!

So our sweet baby Cooper was due for his one year old vaccine. Garrett always gives the vaccines to his hound dogs so we figured we would try to do it ourselves rather than take him to the vet. Garrett gave it to him last night at about 8pm. Garrett and I both didn't have to work the next day so we decided we would stay up late and watch a movie together. About half way through the movie Cooper threw up. We just thought he had eaten too much grass and stuff outside that day and maybe the vaccine was making him a little nausous. A few minutes later Garrett tried to give him a cracker and he didn't want it. When Cooper doesn't want food you know somethings up because he loves food, especially human food! We finished the movie and he was acting fine. Right before we were ready to go to bed i noticed he had a small bump by his eye and one by his lip. i tried to feel it and he wouldn't even let me touch him. Soon after that he started scratching his face nonstop, and i mean nonstop. He was trying to scratch it on the carpet, the wall, the curtains, anything he could. I gave him some childrens benadryl because i had a feeling he was having an allergic reaction and a vet had told me to do that a long time ago when he has a bump on his head. We decided to lay down and try to go to bed but he wouldn't stop scratching and he started panting and breathing heavy. A few minutes later i turned on the light and his face had dime size lumps all over it and he could barely open his eyes because they were all swollen. Well, if you know me i FREAKED out! Cooper is like our child so i started bawling. I told Garrett we had to call a vet so i called the ones in Tooele while he got online and researched the 24 hour vets. Of course none of them in Tooele answered their phones so we called a 24 hour animal hospital in salt lake and they said we had to bring him in because they have had dogs die from that before! You can imagine how i am after hearing that. So we jump in the car in pajamas and everything and go. It was raining so hard and it was the LONGEST drive of my life! The hospital was all the way in Cottonwood and he was short of breath the whole time there. By the time we got there his face didn't have the lumps anymore but it was so swollen, like a balloon! He was not happy about being at the vet and them sticking a thermometer up his bum! The vet said it is definately an allergic reaction to the vaccine and he mostly sees this in little dogs. he said it was good that i gave him the benadryl because that could have stopped some of the swelling and if he had swelling by his neck he could have died. They gave him some steroid shots and medicine to help and we went home. When we got home it was about 3:30am. We were all exhausted so we laid down and Cooper still couldn't stop scratching and panting. Garrett and i both couldn't sleep because he was so miserable. I laid by him and just rubbed his back for a while. I felt so bad for him because he was so tired and he would lay down and try to sleep but he couldn't because he was so short of breath. I called the vet around 5:00am and told them the swelling had gone down but he was still scratching and panting. They told me it can take a while for the medicine to kick in so we just needed to wait it out. I would have done anything to take the pain away from him. i was crying because he was so miserable. Garrett finally went to sleep because he had to work night shift tonight. i let Cooper outside and he went and rolled in the grass and was soaking wet. I think it must have helped him with the itchiness. He came back in and he FINALLY fell asleep in the laundry room. I went and laid down but i kept getting up and checking on him. At 9:00am i had to give him some medicine so i gave it to him and then we all were sound asleep until about 2:00pm! UHHHGGGGGG!!! I am so glad that my baby is okay! Maybe this was heavenly fathers way of preparing us for kids! lol. I am so glad i didn't have to work today. Cooper is doing better and all he wanted to do when he woke up was play and eat! I am so glad i have my sweet dog! He is the best dog in the world and we love him so much! I have gotten like 4 hours of sleep in the last 40 hours so GOODNIGHT!!!

SPRING???

I am hoping it is safe to say that we won't be getting anymore snow this year! Hopefully i don't jinx us! I am so thankful that it was nice last weekend because i worked my butt off in our yard! Our yard needed some MAJOR work when we bought the house and i was so excited to fix it! I am not so excited about it anymore. On saturday my mom and i worked for almost 6 hours in my front flowerbeds! Last summer we ripped out these hideous bushes that were in the flowerbeds so we had to weed and pull out all of the remaining roots! Can i just say i dont think i hate anything more in the world than weeding! I was almost in tears and seriously considering hiring someone to do it for me! lol. If it wasn't for my awesome mom who helped so much i would have given up! After we were done weeding we got to the fun part! We planted some perennials and lined the flowerbeds with this cute white fencing! I also got these adorable solar lights to put in the flowerbeds! The flowerbeds still need some work, but i need to wait until it gets a little warmer so i can plant some annuals. Even Garrett complimented the garden and said it looks great, which really isn't like him because he is very oblivious to that kind of stuff! lol. I also got sunburnt!!! It was hurting but it was a good hurt! I love the feeling that the sun was actually out! We also got our gravel for our driveway this week! Sounds super boring, i know! But i never knew i could be so dang excited about gravel! It makes the yard look so much better!

Speaking of spring, i made some cute spring/easter crafts a while ago that i havn't posted yet so here they are...

Today is my first week of working PART TIME!!! I will say i'm not even sure what to do! lol. I don't start school full time until mid-may so i am going to have some extra time on my hands. I'm sure i will find many things to keep me busy though. I have my finals coming up in a couple weeks so wish me luck! I am watching Good Things Utah right now while blogging! I love that show, they have the cutest ideas. I would always wished i could watch it when i caught glimpses of it at work but never had time! I'm sure it won't last long though! As much as i hate the cold weather i am thankful for the rain and the moisture! Hopefully it doesn't last too long though :)

Our new baby!

Garrett and i have been wanting a camp trailor for a while, but have had too much going on with our house so we finally splurged and got one! We had been checking every day on KSL for some good deals and last friday we went to look at a couple. After coming home with no luck i decided to check online to see if any new ones were posted. There was one that a guy was selling from Eagle Mountain that caught my attention. We looked at the pictures and called the guy to see when we could come look at it. He said they had already had a couple calls on it and if we could come that night we would be the first one to look at it. So we hopped in the car and went. It was an older couple who owned it and the trailor had been left to them from her dad who had died about a year after he bought it. They said the trailor had been used about 5 times total! And i believe it! It is brand new inside. It sleeps 6-7 people.  It also blue booked for about four grand more than we paid for it. It was an awesome deal and the people really just wanted to get rid of it! We are planning a camping trip in may and we are so excited to test out our new baby!

WARMTH!

So this last weekend i got to fly to phoenix with the other assistants i work with for an ortho training. As rushed as it was i had a really good time. We flew out on Thursday after work. Our flight was delayed about an hour and a half so we didn't even get to our hotel until like 11:00 pm. When we got to our hotel we wanted to go exploring. We were at this beautiful resort. We ordered some pizza and sat out by the pool to relax. We didn't end up going to bed until about 2:00 am and our training started at 7:30! We were so tired! We went to the breakfast buffet in the morning and headed to our class. Our class was pretty fun, however, it was mostly just a review for us. I can't say i learned to many new things. Our training was 9 hours!!! We has some breaks in between though. For lunch our doctor took us to this really good mexican restaurant and then when we got back we went and sat by the pool. It was 90 degrees!!! I actually called Garrett and told him to buy a ticket and come down so we could stay a little longer since southwest doesn't charge you to change your flight. He looked and the tickets were almost $400 dollars so we bagged that idea. After our training we went to this awesome steakhouse. Then we got on our plane and came home. I got home around 11:00 pm and was exhausted! It was fun to spend time with all the girls i work with. Its nice to have some play time with them sometimes instead of all business! On Saturday Garrett and i decided we wanted to go on a date after conference so we went into salt lake to go to olive garden and see a movie. After we ate i got a major headache, actually a migraine. We ended up not going to the movie because i was in so much pain!

I am really excited for it to get warm, if it ever does. My tulips and daffodils are growing in my yard and they look beautiful! I just bought the cutest solar lights to put in front of my house! I am hoping it is warm next weekend so i can start working on my flowerbeds. We also just bought a lawn mower and weed eater and i am surprisingly excited to mow the lawn and have barbeques and all that fun stuff! GO AWAY SNOW!
